WWE sent out a fluff press release this morning touting that Sunday's Royal Rumble at the Joe Louis Arena will sell out.

The 1/20 edition of ECW on Sci Fi did a 1.3 cable rating, up from last week's show.

The Pittsburgh Tribune-Review has psoted an interview they conducted with Nature Boy Ric Flair where he talked about his life after pro wresting. "I miss it -- I'm not going to lie," Flair says. "Yeah, I get to talk to the guys, I watch the show, so I keep on top of it." But he added that, "It was time" to walk away. He said that physically, his time had come and gone. He also said that WWE's treatment of his Hall of Fame ceremony was first class.

Shad Gaspard's updated his MySpace blog where he talks about the recent passing of his friend, indy wrestler Paul E. Normus. Normus was featured as an extra in "The Wrestler."

The New Alhambra issued the following statement this evening:

Clients and Patrons of the New Alhambra Sports and Entertainment Center:

Today, a story began circulating that there would no longer be professional boxing, wrestling, or other events at the New Alhambra Arena (former ECW Arena). There is NO truth whatsoever to this story. A new boxing promotion is working at the building and had a successful debut show this past Friday night. Professional wrestling and other events (martial arts, concerts, private parties, etc.) WILL CONTINUE to be held in the building. The only thing that will probably be changing at some point is the name of the Arena & the fact that the facility will be going back more to its wrestling roots.

There are events listed on the calendar of the Arena's website up through July of this year with more to be added.

Thank you for your time and your patronage. We hope you can help us make 2009 one of the best years in the building yet.

Monday's edition of Raw featuring the return of Vince McMahon drew a strong 3.9 cable rating, the show's best number in quite some time. The first hour scored a 3.65 with the second hour drawing a 4.08.

Rev Theory's scheduled performance of Randy Orton's "Voices" theme song on next Monday's Raw has been postponed according to the band's official website . Here is their statement:

WWE Raw Performance - POSTPONED

We just learned that our WWE "Raw" performance that was scheduled to take place on Monday, January 26th has unfortunately been postponed.

Sorry to disappoint, but we'll keep you posted on a make-up date once we have official confirmation!

Eve Torres has replaced Maryse for a scheduled autograph signing on Tuesday, January 27 for "Voices: WWE, The Music, Vol. 9" at the Best Buy located at 562 Fry Road, Greenwood, Indiana. R-Truth has also been added to the signing.

As noted earlier, referee Mickey Henson was recently released by World Wrestling Entertainment. Henson had taken a leave absence due to a health related issue. It is now coming out that Henson is suffering from lymphoma, a form of cancer. Henson had largely kept his illness quiet, only telling a few friends (including Batista, who he is close to), along with John Laurinaitis and Vince McMahon. WWE reportedly promised Henson employment while he battled cancer since he didn't have health insurance.

CM Punk and Maria, who used to be involved in a relationship, apparently launched some subtle digs towards each other during recent radio interviews.

Maria was recently asked about her past relationship with Punk. She said the two broke up because of the wrestling business and that she is now dating someone outside of it. On the kind of man Maria's looking for, she said, "Looking for someone who's going to treat me like a lady and not like one of the boys."

In a separate recent interview when discussing Playboy Playmates, Punk said, "Playboy playmates are so overrated. I also like women with brains."

The 2009 Royal Rumble pay-per-view will be released on Blu-ray. Silvervision.co.uk has set up a pre-order page for the upcoming release, which you can see here. This will be WWE's second Blu-ray release, the other being WrestleMania XXIV. WWE has been looking to release more pay-per-views on Blu-ray, but their video distributor has been going through some financial problems in recent months.

According to a reader, former WWE Diva Torrie Wilson's mens and womens clothing boutique at "Market Street" in The Woodlands, Texas, "Officially Jaded," has shut down. Wilson opened the boutique this past spring.

The UK's Sun has an interview with MVP today, which took place during his media blitz of the country last week. In the interview, MVP admits being overly confrontational backstage may have cost him his spot in WWE, but noted he has learned from his mistakes and will come back stronger.

"I tend to be extremely passionate and very vocal. I've had experiences in my life that cause me to be a little more confrontational than the average person," MVP said regarding issues backstage. "Sometimes if I'm confronted with an issue, rather than say ‘this isn’t worth it', I'll get a little hot headed and speak up and say something that I probably shouldn’t say. Although I'm not saying that's why I'm going through what I'm going through – because in the end it's a storyline."

On being "the next big thing" this time last year, MVP said, "Maybe that was the problem. Maybe I got ahead of myself. Whatever the case I learned a lot in 2008 and much of what I learned I'll apply to 2009. Hopefully this year will be my ascension to the throne."

MVP spoke out on his immediate future in WWE. "There’s an old saying that you don’t have to go over to get over – and I think I'm doing well. And as of the next airing of Smackdown, there’s a pleasant surprise for everyone regarding MVP," he told The Sun . "I'm turning the corner."

MVP also spoke out on Chris Benoit, who he feuded with in 2007. "In spite of the tragic tragic ending and the unspeakable things that happened with Chris Benoit, he had a huge influence on me both personally and professionally," MVP said. "I can attribute a lot of my success to the interest he took in me."

MVP had a lot more say in this 45-minute interview. To listen to the interview in its entirety, click here.

Late last year, Stone Cold Steve Austin finished work on "Damages," a feature film about the secret world of underground fighting. Shot in Vancouver, Brtish Columbia, "Damages" is set to hit theaters in 2010. This week Austin left his ranch in Victoria, Texas and has returned to Los Angeles to begin work on yet another film project.

Dwayne "The rock" Johnson is quoted in a USA Today article discussing the upcoming Academy Awards. The article talks about The Dark Knight as one of the first box office blockbusters to also be an frontrunner at the Oscars. Johnson said, "It has always bothered me how quickly critics and (awards) voters dismiss something just because a lot of people like it. I really hope (The Dark Knight) gets nominated. I think it could dispel that disconnect between people who see the movies and the people who judge and write about them." The Rock has 3 big budget films due out this year, starting with "Race to Witch Mountain" on 3/13, "The Tooth Fairy" on 7/13 and Planet 51 on 11/20.

Former WWE tag champion Curt Hawkins has updated his WWE Universe blog (link) and included a knock on his partner Zack Ryder. "First off, a lot of people have been a buzz about Zack & I and our antics as of late," Hawkins wrote. "Let’s set the record straight here. I don’t 'Woo Woo Woo,' I’m the brains of the operation within this team and I’m above this whole catchphrase-mania. Zack and I haven’t been acting any different, were just finally getting a chance to be ourselves, we’ve always been kind of an odd couple. That’s just who we are, so enjoy it!"

After a recent radio appearance where Hulk Hogan told Bubba The Lovesponge that he'd have no problem putting over Steve Austin at WrestleMania 25, Jim Ross was quick to update his blog stating that Austin's wrestling days were behind him and a dream match with Hulk Hogan was no longer possible. Prowrestling.net reports that a source close to Hogan agrees the match is unlikely but that we still could see Hogan at the big show in April.

"Steve is in no shape to work with anybody," said the source. "It's impossible for him to bump and have a match." The source acknowledged that Austin is one bad bump away from a serious injury, and noted that Hogan struggling with his own wear and tear. While the source wouldn't completely rule out a special Hogan appearance at WrestleMania, it's not something he's actively persuing.
